Half of the top 10 AI start-ups in the world are American. AI R&D is a top priority for the US & has enjoyed wide bipartisan support. In June 2019, the Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence and the National Science and Technology Council released an updated version of the National AI R&D Strategic Plan, which includes eight strategies to guide the portfolio for Federal AI R&D investments. The initiative is designed to boost America’s AI industry by reallocating funding, creating new resources, and devising ways for the country to shape the technology even as it becomes increasingly global.
